Old Newbie is a packaging for Quitman stationery which has a vintage veneer yet is a gift in present. It includes four traditional copybooks, night pencils and a rubber. As a traditional person, pencil and paper are the most suitable tools to record our thinking and ideas without any hesitation. However, using Ipad will filtrate some of the initial ideas which can be further developed. Inspired by Lau Chi Chung, a collector of old textbooks in Hong Kong, the packaging adopted Dadaism as the design attitude of this project while Art Deco is the design style. When neon colors, holographic foil stamping and UV printing technologies merged together, they create a visual impact as they seem unrelated.
