“Roots” are not only a part of trees, but also relationships between generations. It is a film photo series taken in a small path near a minibus stop in Wong Tai Sin, Hong Kong. It is also a film photo series recording the memory of me and the “dumpling old lady”.

A small story behind the photos:
Many people do not know that there is a small path near the minibus from Tsz Wan Shan, my secondary school's location to home. There is an old lady selling dumplings and I ate them every day after school. The old lady is nice that she always gave me more and we chatted and shared.
However, one day, the government officials banned the selling of dumplings because of the construction of the train station. Although the old lady and her neighbors keep selling snacks, they face high risks to be driven away. Therefore, the old lady planned to leave in April, 2019.
For me, there are something special which I would like to capture: which are feelings and relationships. In this series of film photos, what I want to communicate is that "roots" are not only a part of trees, but also relationships between generations. On the day I took photos, a man share his childhood experience with his child and the movement was captured.
